No. 1 Ranked North Carolina Proves to be Too Much for Mountaineers

September 20 - Chapel Hill, N.C.- Appalachian field hockey dropped its fifth straight game of the season to No. 1 ranked North Carolina, 7-0. With the win the Tarheels keep their undefeated record and move to 9-0 on the season, while the Mountaineers fall to 2-6.

North Carolina came out to play early on and never looked back. The Tarheels scored two goals within the first ten minutes of the game and notched four more before heading into halftime.

The lone goal in the second half was scored by forward Danielle Forword. Her goal was the Tarheels seventh of the game, and it gave them the 7-0 win over the Apps’ .

UNC was led by Katelyn Falgowski who had two goals and two assists on the evening. Appalachian goalie Denise Adams had a busy night, garnering a total of 19 saves.

ASU wil return to action on Sunday September 23 as they play Davidson in their third conference game of the season. The Mountaineers will play their second home game at Kidd Brewer Stadium, with the match starting at 1:30 p.m.
