ASU Women take Third in Gardner-Webb Meet, Wilde leads the Way for the Men

October 5 - BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.- The Mountaineer women's cross country team took home a third place finish at the Gardner-Webb Invitational. The Apps came in behind UNC Ashevllie and Gardner-Webb, while beating Wofford College.

Leading the way for Appalachian was sophomore Heather Goldstein. Goldstein ran the 4k course in 16:19 and notched a fourth place finish. Teammate Kathryn Fontenot finished close by grabbing sixth place.

Other Mountaineers competing in the meet were Emily Pomfrey who finished 11th , Kathryn Booker who came in 13th and Emily Hoyt who placed 23rd.

On the men’s side, Todd Wilde carried the Apps. There was no team score, but Wilde placed 4th overall, with teammates Nick O’Keefe and Mike Walker grabbing the next two spots.

ASU will be back home next Friday as they host one of the biggest meets of the season, the Blue Ridge Open. The meet will begin at 5 p.m. and will be run at the State Farm Fields.
