by Appalachian Sports Information October 30 - STANFORD, CALIF.- Appalachian field hockey dropped its final regular-season NorPac match, losing to the Pacific Tigers, 7-1. With this loss the Mountaineers fall to 3-16 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 5-10. The Tigers came out scoring early and often, as Kim Keyawa got Pacific on the board early, just three minutes into the game. Pacific scored twice more before the breaking point, taking the commanding 3-0 lead into the half. Appalachian responded to the Tigers, as freshman Nicole Morgan scored unassisted in the 38th minute, to narrow the lead to 3-1. This was Morgan's fourth goal of the season. Pacific responded quickly to the Mountaineers, as the Tigers notched three goals within a four minute time-span, and one goal late in the second half, to defeat ASU, 7-1. Junior Goalkeeper Sabra Holt played the majority of the game, making two saves. Also on the defensive front, senior Jess Harris earned her first defensive save of the season. The Mountaineers were out shot by the Tigers, 17-5. Appalachian will try and rebound from this loss as they prepare for their first NorPac tournament game on Thursday November 1.
