Wrestling Travels to Chattanooga on Sundayby Appalachian Sports InformationJan. 26, 2008 -
BOONE, N.C. – After a two-match homestand, the Appalachian State wrestling team travels to Chattanooga for a Sunday afternoon matinee. The 2 p.m. match is a battle for SoCon lead as ASU and the Mocs are tied for first place in the league.
Appalachian (7-6, 1-0) are led by senior
Scott Ervin, 25-5 on the season at 149-pounds. Ervin, a NCAA qualifier a year ago, is ranked 12th in the nation. Mountaineer brothers
Eddie and
Tommy Hutchinson back each other up at 156 and 165-pounds respectively.
Chattanooga (6-5, 1-0) is ranked 19th nationally in the latest NWCA poll. Five Mocs are ranked in this week’s NWCA poll. 141-pounder Cody Cleveland is UTC’s highest ranked wrestler, checking in at 13th place nationally.
The Mountaineers will continue their road trip on Tuesday afternoon against Gardner-Webb in Boiling Springs, N.C. The non-conference meeting gets underway at 7 p.m.
