Women's Tennis Travels to Chattanooga

March 7, 2008 - BOONE, N.C.- After dropping their first conference match to Wofford last weekend, the Appalachian State women's tennis squad looks to rebound as they travel to Chattanooga, Tenn. to face the Mocs. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday March 8.

The Mountaineers, who post a 4-4 record on the season, and an 0-1 mark in Southern Conference play, defeated the Mocs twice during the 2007 season, winning by a narrow margin of 4-3 on both occasions.

Leading the way for the Apps is freshman Heather Prior. The Raleigh native posts an impressive 6-2 record on the season at the No. 4 singles spot.

Other solid contributors for ASU include junior Monica Tomas who plays at the No.1 singles spot, and senior Anja Gugger who competes at the No. 2 singles position.

As for the Mocs, they currently have a 4-5 record on the season and are 0-2 in Southern Conference play, having lost to both Elon and Davidson 7-0.

After facing Chattanooga, Appalachian will take a brief five day break, before hosting SoCon foe Davidson at home on March 15. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
