by Appalachian Sports Information March 15, 2008 - BOONE, N.C.- The Appalachian State women’s tennis team will host its second home match of the 2008 season, as the Mountaineers play the Davidson Wildcats Saturday March 15 at 1 p.m. The match will take place at the ASU Tennis Courts above Kidd Brewer Stadium. The Apps are coming off a two game conference skid, having lost to SoCon foes Wofford and Chattanooga. Against a tough Terrier squad, ASU was unable to pick up any wins as the Mountaineers dropped their first conference match of the season, falling 7-0. The Apps had a tough time against Chattanooga as well, as they were unable to grab the crucial doubles point, and only freshman Heather Prior and Elizabeth Holland were able to notch wins over their opponents. ASU currently posts a 4-5 record on the season and an 0-2 record in the SoCon. As for Davidson, the Wildcats have faced solid competition throughout the 2008 season. Having played two nationally ranked teams, Davidson is 8-3 on the season, and holds a 1-0 record in conference play, having defeated Chattanooga 7-0. The Mountaineers will have little time to rest after facing the Wildcats, as they turn around and play another tough conference competitor at home. ASU will play Georgia Southern on Monday March 17, with the match set to begin at 1 p.m. |
