Women's Tennis Team Hosts High Point

April 3 - BOONE, N.C.- The Appalachian State women's team looks to grab its seventh win of the season, as the Mountaineers host High Point University Friday April 4 at 1 p.m. The location of the match will be determined on the weather conditions. If it rains, the match will be moved indoors to the Grandfather Mountain tennis courts, if it stays dry, the Apps will play outside at the Rivers Street tennis courts.

Appalachian is coming off a tough loss to conference rival Furman, as the Mountaineers fell 7-0 to the Paladins. ASU holds a record 6-10 on the season, with a 1-6 mark in SoCon action.

Leading the way for ASU has been junior Lindsay King and Caroline Mauch. The two hold the teams best record in singles play on the season. King is 8-7 overall in conference action, including 3-3 and 3-2 marks at the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions. Mauch is 6-3 in singles play, and 5-3 at the No. 6 spot.

As for High Point, the Panthers are 4-8 on the season, having played two common teams as ASU, in Wofford and UNC Greensboro. The Panthers lost to both the Terriers and the Spartans in two close matches, falling 4-3 in both.

Appalachian will return to action Sunday April 6, as ASU faces SoCon competitor College of Charleston at home, with the match set to begin at Noon. The Mountaineers will play the Cougars on the Rivers Street Courts.
