The match began with singles action, as just two Mountaineers were able to notch wins on the afternoon.

At the No. 1 spot, Bobby Lake played a challenging opponent in Charles Bottoni, and fell in two sets, losing 6-3 and 6-0. Ryan Brookshaw rallied back after trailing early at the No. 2 position to push the match into three sets. Brookshaw prevailed, and defeated his opponent, winning 2-6, 6-3 and 6-4.

Both Trent Constance and Lee Floyd lost to their competition in two sets, as Constance fell 4-6 and 3-6, while Floyd lost 2-6 and 4-6 respectively.

The most impressive performance of the day came from Peter Jacobs as he easily defeated Jim Trussler at the No. 5 spot, winning in two sets, 6-0 and 6-2.

The Mountaineers had to win the sixth and final singles match in order to play the doubles matches.

Despite a strong effort, including a comeback in the third set, winning two straight games, David Doverspike was unable to beat Maxime Dutois, falling in three close sets. Doverspike took the first set 6-4, but lost the final two 4-6 and 4-6.

Doubles was not played due to the match already being decided by singles action.

The Mountaineers will have little time to rest, as they host SoCon opponent College of Charleston Saturday April 5. The time and location of the match is dependent on the weather, stay logged on to GOASU.com for updates.
