Men's Tennis to Face Wofford

April 6, 2008 - BOONE, N.C.- The Appalachian State men's tennis team looks to continue with its winning ways, as the Mountaineers travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on SoCon rival Wofford. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m. at Wofford's Reeves Tennis Center.

Appalachian has a solid record of 10-8 on the season and are 3-3 in SoCon action, having recently defeated College of Charleston 4-1 on Saturday night.

Posting solid performances for ASU has been sophomore Peter Jacobs. Jacobs won his singles match against High Point at the No. 5 spot, handily defeating his opponent in two sets, 6-0 and 6-2. He was also victorious in both doubles and singles action against the College of Charleston.

As for Wofford, the Terriers are 9-9 on the season and also post a 3-3 record in SoCon action. They have notched impressive wins over Elon and Davidson winning 4-3, while falling to Chattanooga 4-3, and are currently right below ASU in the SoCon standings, at sixth place.

After facing a tough Wofford team, the Apps will return to action Friday April 11 as they host Davidson. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the ASU Tennis Courts.
